The town of Elloree is more than a hundred years old, and has some of the richest farmland in South Carolina. No doubt, our forefathers picked the eastern portion of Orangeburg County for that reason. Nearby Santee is in the northeast part of Orangeburg County and is fast becoming a growing town. The area offers hunters and nature lovers quite an array of habitats. But if farming or hunting doesn't interest you, there's a lot more to do in Elloree, Santee and the surrounding Santee Cooper towns.

Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie will keep even the most boastful fishermen honest. Both bodies of water have yielded record catches of such fish as catfish, crappie, bream as well as striped, white and largemouth bass. Both lakes have large open areas of water, but also offer water navigators a marked channel system through swamp, black water ponds and pretty cypress areas. Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie make up the Santee Cooper Lake System that provides 122 miles of navigable waterway.

You don't have to like the water either to make Santee Cooper Country the home you'll love. Our location in South Carolina makes for perfect weather conditions most of the year. Golfers can visit a number of links in the area nearly every day on the calendar. Hikers enjoy the mild weather to hit any of our nearby trails at such places as Santee National Wildlife Refuge and Santee State Park. There are also many historical sites to check out including Fort Watson, Stanback Museum and Planetarium, Eutaw Springs Battleground and the Branchville Railroad Museum. The Orangeburg National Fish Hatchery also makes its home here.
